Declaration Against the Demonization of Human Rights Activists

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We are facing a situation where baseless accusations and attempts at demonization have been directed towards human rights activists in Switzerland. These allegations, founded on erroneous claims and unfounded amalgamations, are deeply concerning.

We, at the Geneva Center for Democracy and Human Rights, strongly condemn any attempts to discredit the hard and dedicated work of human rights defenders in Switzerland and around the world.

It is regrettable that unfounded allegations have been made regarding supposed links with controversial groups. Not only are these accusations unfounded, but they also aim to divert attention from the real objective: defending the inalienable rights of every individual, irrespective of their origin, beliefs, or political affiliation.

Far from political labels or partisan affiliations, our commitment to human rights is based on universal principles of justice, fairness, and respect for human dignity. We reaffirm our commitment to work for the protection of the fundamental rights of every individual, without bias or political preferences.

Accusations of alleged support for violent actions or controversial organizations do not align with our values, missions, or actions. We categorically condemn all forms of violence and advocate for peace, justice, and the protection of civilians worldwide.

We call for an open dialogue based on verifiable facts and constructive discussion to dispel any confusion or misunderstanding.

We thank all our supporters, partners, and sympathizers who share our values and stand with us in our fight for a fairer, more equitable world that respects human rights.

Together, let us continue to defend the universal values of human rights and firmly reject any form of stigmatization or demonization towards those working for a better world.

Together, let us continue to condemn war crimes in Gaza, the massacres of children and civilians, the bombing of hospitals, and the desecration of places of worship.

Together, working for the unequivocal respect for humanitarian law, the right to water, food, and care for the sick and wounded during wars, is our deeply Swiss mission that we are proud, each and every one of us, to undertake.

In solidarity,

The Geneva Center for Democracy and Human Rights
