Urgent Appeal To International and Humanitarian Organizations To Save the Children of Gaza

Urgent Appeal
To International and Humanitarian Organizations
To Save the Children of Gaza from a Humanitarian Catastrophe Due to the Widespread Outbreak of Acute Malnutrition, Especially Among Infants and Children Under Five

Since the beginning of the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, more than one million children have been living under catastrophic conditions amid a suffocating blockade, widespread destruction of infrastructure, and the near-total collapse of the health and food systems. Field and medical reports indicate that:

  • More than 60,000 children in the Gaza Strip are currently suffering from malnutrition due to the complete depletion of infant formula, and they are facing the risk of death. Deaths among children from hunger and malnutrition have already been documented.
  • Hundreds of newborns in incubators at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis are at risk of death due to malnutrition.
  • There is a severe shortage of therapeutic foods and essential nutritional supplements, with a significant increase in anemia, underweight, and stunting rates among children.
  • What is happening to children in Gaza constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, particularly the provisions guaranteeing children’s right to food, health, and life. The international community bears a moral and legal obligation to urgently protect innocent children from slow death due to hunger and disease.
  • The children of Gaza are not parties to any conflict. They are innocent victims who are being denied their most basic rights to food and healthcare.
  • Continued international silence in the face of this catastrophe amounts to complicity in an unprecedented humanitarian crime.
  • The children of Gaza are not mere numbers; they are innocent lives entitled to live with dignity. Every day of delay in delivering food and medicine means the loss of yet another child’s life. History will not forgive an international community that turns its back on the suffering of innocent children facing hunger and slow death.

We urgently call on you to:

  1. Open immediate and safe humanitarian corridors to deliver essential food and medical supplies for children.
  2. Provide urgent international support to supply infant formulas and therapeutic foods to Gaza.
  3. Send international medical and nutrition missions to assess the situation and provide immediate assistance.
  4. Hold accountable the parties responsible for blocking relief and starving civilians, as these acts constitute a grave and unprecedented war crime.
  5. Establish an international emergency plan under UN supervision to protect the children of Gaza
