To Parlementarians / members of gouvernements and Internationales organisations
We write to you today with deep concern over the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, where more than one million children face the threat of death by starvation amid the worst famine crisis of the 21st century. According to United Nations reports, Gaza has become one of the most afflicted areas in the world in terms of food insecurity and severe malnutrition.
The world is witnessing one of the gravest humanitarian disasters of our time — a disaster that has persisted in Gaza for more than a year and a half. Over two million people are besieged in a small geographical area, enduring the horrors of systematic aggression, starvation, and destruction.
Genocide is not merely a moment in history; it is a wound in the body of humanity — one that can only be healed through justice. Its victims were not only killed; their dreams were annihilated, their lives stolen, and their stories buried in mass graves, lost in the shadows of global silence.
The United Nations and international organizations have confirmed that over 90% of children in Gaza are suffering from acute food shortages. Nearly half a million children are now facing the risk of slow death due to starvation and malnutrition, exacerbated by a total blockade, the destruction of supply chains, and the ongoing prevention of humanitarian aid from entering the Strip for months.
This situation is not merely a humanitarian crisis — it constitutes a full-fledged international crime, falling within the scope of genocide and the use of starvation as a weapon of war, in blatant violation of the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law.
As representatives of the European peoples, and given the power of your voice and influence within the European Union, we urge you to:
- Exert immediate pressure on Israel to lift the blockade on Gaza and open humanitarian crossings.
- Demand the unconditional entry of urgent food and medical aid by all available means.
- Activate mechanisms of international accountability against those responsible for depriving children of food and medicine.
- Adopt an emergency resolution in the European Parliament condemning the starvation of civilians in Gaza and calling for coordinated European action to stop this crime.
The children of Gaza are not mere statistics in reports — they are innocent human lives who deserve a safe and dignified future. The silence of the world today will not be forgiven. Your stance can make a decisive difference in saving an entire generation from annihilation.
The European conscience cannot remain idle while children and women in Gaza perish due to the denial of food and water. Every minute of delay costs a life, and every moment lost is another child slipping into the slow grip of death.
With our deepest respect and appreciation
